Five Islington residents are busy upcycling their tables, chairs and sideboards for the first London Upcycling Show, held later this month.
They are competing against 13 other north London residents to win £200 for to spend at the Goodlife Centre. Their efforts will be judged by a panel of experts at the event on November 30, 6-8pm, at the Walthamstow Assembly Hall.
Anyone who lives, works or studies in the borough of Islington is eligible to apply for free tickets for the show, which will feature upcycling demonstrations, workshops and exhibitors. A range of upcycled items will be available to purchase, while canapés made from surplus food, will be there for people to try.
The event, which aims to inspire people to reuse, repair and upcycle everyday items, is organised by the North London Waste Authority (NLWA) and Keep Britain Tidy during the European Week for Waste Reduction.
