Islington libraries is excited to open its brand new Cat and Mouse library, so pop in and help them celebrate!

Join top poets Paul Lyalls and John Hegley for brilliant performances.

Get crafty and make your own book with the Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art.

Jazz it up by joining in live performances of family favourites with BabyJazz.

Explore our fantastic new facilities, including IT suite and dedicated adult, teenage and children’s libraries.

Opening ceremony and speeches
11.30am – 12pm
Join the Mayor of Islington and others to celebrate the official opening of the library.

Paul Lyalls
12.30 – 1.15pm
Top performance poet Paul Lyalls asks ‘What are books?’ and wants you, the audience, to tell him. You may be surprised what you come up with! Paul will perform some of his own poetry before taking your lines and melding them into an instant work of genius.

Gentle yoga
12.30 – 1.30pm
Gentle yoga class for everyone – a great way to relax.

Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art
1.30 – 2.30pm
Crash, Bang, Wallop! Join the Estorick Collection to learn how to make a book and fill it with Futurist poetry using letters to create images and a new language of your own!
Ages 5+

Baby Jazz
2.45 – 3.30pm
Live jazz-based series of songs, rhymes and stories young families will love, including a re-telling of the Michael Rosen favourite ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.’
Ages 0 – 18 months

John Hegley
3.45 – 4.30pm
Performance poetry with musical accompaniment from top poet John Hegley.
Ages 7+
