Dates for your diaries: Get in the festive spirit and do some local shopping at these Islington Christmas lights switch-ons. More details are being added all the time, so please check back!

Angel – Saturday 17 November
‘Angel Day’ is a free family fun afternoon taking place in various locations in and around Angel. Starting at 12.30pm Angel Central will have live music, panto stars and Santa and his elves there to meet shoppers. From 1.30pm there will be live music and entertainment and illuminated stilt walkers at Chapel Market. The Mayor of Islington will be announcing the winner of Market Trader of the Year and switching on the market’s lights at 3pm, along with Father Christmas. Meanwhile, at Islington Fire Station in Upper Street from 2.30pm-4pm children will be able to explore a fire engine and try on a uniform, make a paper angel with puppetry with Little Angel Theatre. There will be a light procession down to Angel Central at 4pm. Plus, there will be live music and entertainment in Camden Passage from 3.30pm.

Nag’s Head – Saturday 24 November, 1-5pm
Location: in and around Nag’s Head shopping centre mall, 402–406 Holloway Rd, N7 6PZ
There will be choirs from Grafton Primary School and Holloway Seventh-day Adventist Church as well as a Christmas crooner and DJ, and Santa and face painting for children – something for all the family. Drum Works will provide street entertainment and local shops are contributing mince pies and other light refreshments.
