Islington is gearing up for a week of events to celebrate reading – including free book vouchers for children, Drag Queen story time and the announcement of this year’s ‘Teen Read Vote’ winner.

Islington Reads Week will run from 26 February – 4 March.

This year, check out #EveryOneAStoryteller – our story time sessions with a difference. Drag Queen Cookie MonStar (pictured) will be entertaining families with her mixture of comedy, cabaret and storytelling!

When: Tuesday 27 February, 11am-11.30am
Where: Central Library

When: Thursday 1 March, 11am-11.30am
Where: N4 Library

Islington Libraries will also be celebrating International Women’s Day on 8 March with a month-long book promotion – hundreds of fantastic titles by female authors!

Whether you’re after old favourites or new discoveries, there’s guaranteed to be something you love! There are also author events and a talk on the Jewish Suffragettes.

This year’s Teen Read Vote is bigger than ever, with over 500 of Islington pupils voting for their favourite book. The winner will be announced at a special event featuring top author Patrice Lawrence on Tuesday 27 February.

This is just a taster of what’s on during Islington Reads Week – visit, follow @islingtonlibs on Twitter, or speak to your local library to find out more!
