Islington’s independent film festival, Unrestricted View Film Festival, is back in the borough for a week-long celebration of independent cinema from 23-29 April.

It is opening with the film ‘Pickups’ starring Aidan Gillen, best known for his roles in Game of Thrones, The Wire and Queer as Folk, at 7pm at The Screen on the Green.

The festival’s main hub continues to be The Hen & Chickens Theatre, but this year a pop-up venue has been added to show the impressive line-up of short films. The Vintage Mobile Cinema is the only surviving original mobile cinema from 1967, and will be situated in the outside grounds of The Alwyne Castle from 26-29 April.

James Wren, the festival’s Creative Director, says: “The UVFF festival is run by filmmakers for filmmakers and we’re passionate about celebrating all aspects of independent film making. We’re also hosting events and workshops throughout the week at The Hen and Chickens Theatre, so there’s lots for people to get involved in!”
