Supporting vulnerable residents
Staff from the council’s estate team are working round the clock to help people who have called the We Are Islington helpline for support.
Steve Chamberlain, Mario Demetriou, Terry Bakker, Dave Lewis, and Jon Wells have been delivering medicines to residents who are self-isolating and making sure they have a continuous power supply to their homes by bringing them gas and electric top ups.
They have been carrying out welfare checks on vulnerable residents and have even picked up food vouchers and gone shopping for some residents who were in need of essential supplies.
Steve Chamberlain said: “We all need to pull together to help those that really need it. I and my colleagues feel really happy for each resident we assist, especially with their continuous thanks. It makes me feel good to be part of such a responsive team helping those that are vulnerable and really in need of assistance.”
Emma Small, Estate Services Co-ordinator, said: “The team has collected over 20 prescriptions for residents in the borough, topped up gas and electric for at least 15 people and also carried out welfare checks on some vulnerable residents.
“Their work has been amazing!”
