We love our markets: Sandra Prescod
This Love Your Local Market fortnight, from 17-23 May, we are highlight some of our fabulous street traders. Meet Sandra…
A relative newcomer to Chapel Market, Sandra has been selling women’s fashions for almost a year and is loving her change in career.
“Wendy is my friend from school and she’s been trying to get me out here from the minute we left!” Sandra says.
“I went into direct marketing as a data analyst, then the last 16 years I’ve been doing interior design. I decided I wanted a change and maybe now was the time to come out and do this. So last year I finished a house with a property developer based in Jersey and then thought, OK let me apply for the licence and go out there and see how it goes.
“There was a lot of fear at first, and doubt, should I do it, shouldn’t I do it? I came out last July and I’ve been here ever since and it’s been fantastic. I’m loving it. I can’t complain that I made the transition from interior design to this.
“I wanted to do women’s fashion because I think I have a pretty good eye for clothing and I just thought go out there and do something different.
“I’m very much a people’s person, so I like meeting all the people that come along. Seeing all the children walk through the market and then seeing them walk through as adults, that’s the next thing for me. That’s if I’m still here!”
