Festive lights events

Live music, family fun and lights switch-ons: 17 November–2 December
Starting on Friday 17 November in Angel, Islington’s high streets will begin to shine as the borough’s free festive events return.
Angel Central
Friday 17 November, 5–7pm
21 Parkfield Street, London, N1 0PS
See Santa turn on the lights and enjoy free entertainment. There’ll also be goodie bags filled with wooden tree decorations, chocolates, and a plant-at-home Christmas tree to snap up. The lights will be switched on at 6.30pm.
Visit the Angel Central website for more information
Glow in the Angel
Saturday 18 November, 12–5pm
Islington Green, Upper Street, N1 2XA
Kick off the festive season with Angel Islington’s seasonal spectacular in Islington Green and Camden Passage. Join for an afternoon of fun and food, plus free arts and crafts sessions including balloon-modelling and finger puppet-making, live music and lots of Christmas characters to spot and take a quick pic with.
Islington Giving will also be there: write a postcard with a cheery message and pop it in their postbox to put a smile on a neighbour’s face. They will make sure it gets to someone who needs it. They will also be taking donations to their winter appeal.

Nag’s Head
Saturday 18 November, 2–5pm
Nag’s Head Shopping Centre, Holloway Road, N7 6PZ
Boogie away the Christmas festivities to a live DJ and Grafton Primary School and Holloway SDA Church choirs, while you nibble on free mince pies. There’ll be a Christmas crooner, too – and, of course, the lights switch-on from the Mayor of Islington.
Finsbury Park
Saturday 25 November, 1.30–4.30pm
Fonthill Road, N4
With Miss Santa spreading the festive cheer, coupled with a Christmas DJ and enough arts and crafts to satisfy the whole family, this one’s not to be missed. There’ll be plenty of mince pies to eat, too, while our lovely Mayor switches on the lights!
Archway
Wednesday 29 November
Navigator Square, N19 3TD
Archway’s seasonal spectacular returns with festive fun for all the family! Expect music and performances from great local acts, Christmas crafts, wreath-making and facepainting, along with a fabulous market with lots of goodies for everyone!
The festive market will be on from 12noon; entertainment and family activities will take place 3–7.00pm.
Whitecross Street
Friday 1 December, 4–6pm
Whitecross Street, EC1Y
Join for the Mayor’s festive lights switch-on, while snacking on Santa’s finest (and free) mince pies. Kids can enjoy face painting plus arts and crafts, alongside a festive market.
Chapel Market
Saturday 2 December, 12noon–3pm
Chapel Market, N1 9EN
Enjoy festive tunes, facepainting and crafts – and bag a bargain while you’re at it! The winner of this year’s Market Trader of the Year Award will also be announced on the day.
Caledonian Road
Saturday 9 December, 1.30–4pm
Jean Stokes Community Centre, Freeling Street, N1
