Celebrating our LGBTQ+ community with a month of walks, talks and events: throughout February


Gay Barnsbury and Holloway walking tour

Sunday 11 February, 12noon–2pm
Caledonian Park Clock Tower, Caledonian Park, Market Road, N7 9PL

Join us for a LGBTQ+ history walking tour! Wend your way around the streets of Barnsbury and Holloway to discover the history of local gay clubs, bars, politics, residents and supporters. Hear how even the famous had to hide their sexuality, and what happened to those who didn’t.

Join Pride UK and hear from LGBTQ+ people who came out and fought for LGBTQ+ human rights when society, state and police were much less inclusive than today. These events will take place online and are free, but registration is encouraged.

Under-fives story time with Dani

Monday 19 and Monday 26 February, 10–11am
Cally Clock Tower Centre, Caledonian Park, Market Road, N7 9PL

Come along and join Dani the storyteller as she explores the history of Islington’s Pride movement!

Play football with Stonewall FC, drive a red bus to the first-ever Pride March and celebrate under a giant rainbow flag.

You can also participate in an immersive storytelling experience, which will help develop your child’s communication and language, physical, social and emotional development through play and imagination.

Celebrating LGBTQ+ History

Join myGwork for an enlightening hour as their panel shares their passions and insights about different LGBTQ+ historical chapters. Discover remarkable LGBTQ+ heroes, pivotal moments in the fight for equality, and uncharted stories.

The organisation myGwork is a business community of LGBTQ+ professionals, graduates, inclusive employers and anyone who believes in workplace equality. It empowers the LGBTQ+ community by offering a safe space where people can connect with inclusive employers, find jobs, mentors, professional events, e-learning, training, news and much more.

This event is free, you just need to register to book your place.

LGBTQ+ History panel discussion 


Boxing with Knockout

Thursdays, 6.45pm; Saturdays, 7.15pm
Sobell Leisure Centre, Hornsey Road, N7 7NY

Knockout is an inclusive, non-profit boxing club for the LGBTQ+ community, providing a space for all genders, sexualities and abilities to explore boxing. Classes are non-contact and no previous experience is required, just come along and give it a try! The group also has regular social events.
