Platinum Jubilee celebrations

This year marked the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee – Her Majesty’s 70th year on the throne. In honour of the occasion, an extended bank holiday will take place in June, with Thursday 2 June and Friday 3 June designated as national holidays. Why not get stuck into the celebrations and make the most of the extended weekend by throwing your own party? Here’s what you need to know:

Street parties
If you’re planning to bring your friends, family and neighbours together for a street party, you’ll need to complete an application form. Visit the Islington Council website to find out more and apply.

Apply for a grant
If you want to go one further and organise something in a local park to mark the occasion – a party, tea dance or other event (feel free to get creative!) – you can apply for a grant of up to £500 from Islington Council.

To find out more and to get an application form, email partnerships@islington.gov.uk and apply by midnight on Sunday 10 April.
