People-Friendly Footways Walk (community-run event)

See the benefits of low-traffic neighbourhoods first hand on this walk from Highbury and Islington station, via a Gillespie Park nature and history walk, to Finsbury Park and back.

Big Bike Ride (council-run event)

Highbury Crescent – closed road between Highbury Fields

Join our easy-pace, family-friendly led ride. This fully marshalled ride will take you on a two hour-long tour of Islington making use of our new People-Friendly Streets. We will stop for a break in the middle. Children aged 8-15 years old are welcome and must be both competent cyclists and accompanied by an adult. Each adult can be responsible for up to two children.

Dr Bike (council-run event)

Caledonian Park

Does your bike have a nagging issue? Is something stopping you from getting around on two wheels? Come along to this Dr Bike drop-in session, where experienced mechanics will check everything on your bike – from wheels, brakes, gears and tyre pressure, to lights, racks, pedals, saddles and more. They’ll fix what they can on site and if they can’t, they’ll advise what you need to do.


School holiday Bikeability Learn to Ride (council-run event)
25 and 26 October 2021
10am-11am and 11am-12 noon

Rosemary Gardens, N1 

A short course (2 x 1 hour sessions) for complete beginners aged five and up, who have never cycled before or have only ridden a bike with stabilisers (training wheels).

School Holiday Bikeability Level 1 (council-run event)
27 and 28 October 2021
10am – 12 noon

Rosemary Gardens, N1 

A two-day course (2 x 2 hour sessions) for children 5-9 years old who can already ride without stabilisers. This course helps develop all the skills that you need to cycle on the road, but the training takes place off road.

School Holiday Bikeability Level 2 (council-run event )
25, 26, 27 and 28 October 2021
1pm – 3pm
Rosemary Gardens, N1 

A four-day course (4 x 2 hour sessions) for children who can cycle well  but have little or no experience of road cycling. This course begins off road to ensure basic skills have been covered.  The training will then move on to local roads, where the children will work on road positioning, junction turns and communication with other road users.
