From trash to treasure
From trash to treasure: Islington recyclers wanted!
Most people in Islington recycle. To celebrate this, the council is looking for local people to get involved in an exciting new art project!
Local artist Freddie Yauner is collecting items destined for the recycling bin and creating mini pieces of art by illustrating intricate portraits of residents onto them. “I want to celebrate Islington residents who recycle their waste, demonstrating how easy it is to do so,” says Freddie. “It’s inspiring to know that we can all make a difference, and I want to highlight this in a fun and surprising way.”
Freddie is looking for around 12 local people to take part in the project.
“For me, drawing people’s portraits on their recycling items is about bringing individual personalities to everyday items that are due to be recycled,” he continues. “It’s about creating something beautiful from these waste products and displaying them so that people can see the objects along with an illustration of the person who is recycling them.”
