Men are part of the change: 16 Days of Activism
From 25 November to 10 December, Islington joins the global 16 Days of Activism campaign – a movement calling for an end to violence against women and girls. This year, we’re shining a light on the vital role men can play as allies.
Violence against women and girls impacts everyone. Change starts when we all take responsibility, and men have a powerful part to play. By speaking out, challenging harmful attitudes, and supporting others, we can help create a safer, more respectful community.
We’re inviting men across Islington to make a pledge and be part of the change. Choose one of three ways to take action:
- Learn through training – Understand what drives abuse and how to challenge it.
- Recognise abuse – Spot the signs and know the different forms it can take.
- Encourage others – Speak up and inspire other men to take action too.
Together, we can build a borough where everyone feels safe and respected.
Head over to Let’s Talk Islington to make your pledge today.
Why bystander action matters
We all have moments when we see or hear something that doesn’t feel right. Those moments matter. Choosing to act, even in small ways, can make a big difference.
By joining the bystander training, you’ll learn how to challenge harmful behaviour safely and confidently. Together, we can create a community that says no to domestic abuse and stands for respect.
There are two sessions available, use the links below to register:
It’s time to change the question from “Why didn’t she leave?” to “Why didn’t he stop?”
If you or a loved one has been impacted by domestic abuse or violence, you can get support here: Housing abuse | Islington Council
