Cally’s Clockwork chemist is Covid-safe

The Caledonian Road stretches to one and a half miles, and features no less than two branches of Clockwork Pharmacy – a small group of Independent NHS Community Pharmacies.

Manager at number 273, Vishal, is a solid supporter of Covid-safe business practices, as you might expect from a qualified pharmacist!

“The Covid-safe businesses scheme has given our service users the confidence to return to the high street knowing social distancing measures and safe practices are taking place.

“Face-to-face contact with a healthcare professional is invaluable and we welcome those who need our help to approach us with confidence, knowing their safety and wellbeing is our first priority.”

Vishal’s busy pharmacy offers a wide range of services, but they are still able to offer the personal touch that chain businesses often cannot.

“We know our customers, sometimes all the family, and we pride ourselves on that.

“We also know that we’re providing an essential service that takes the pressure off of our NHS colleagues in GP surgeries, clinics and hospitals – and it’s never been more important to do that.”

As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer clinical advice and over-the-counter medicines for a range of minor illnesses, such as coughs, colds, sore throats, tummy trouble and aches and pains. If symptoms suggest it’s something more serious, pharmacists have the right training to make sure you get the help you need. For example they will tell you if you need to see a GP, nurse or other healthcare professional.

And it’s so important to our neighbourhoods to support local businesses. One of the many great reasons is that money spent locally stays in the community. Did you know that every pound spent at an independent business contributes three times more money into the local economy compared to money spent at a chain?

Caledonian Road is a great place to support businesses like this, with its diverse range of shops, bars and restaurants. You’ll find charities, community organisations and many independent shops, including several specialising in ironwork, glass, paint and second-hand furniture.

Islington Council has teamed up with ‘My Virtual Neighbourhood’ to launch Shop Local Islington, an online directory to help residents find independent shops, cafes, pubs, restaurants, markets and service providers in the borough. To shop, spend and enjoy life with local businesses, search your neighbourhood on IslingtonLife.
