Islington wins again at Green Flag Awards

Barnard Park has joined 14 others in Islington, having received the nationally recognised standard for parks quality, a Green Flag Award.

The Green Flag Awards are an internationally recognised quality mark for parks and green spaces, and is given to parks that are well managed, welcoming and maintained to a high standard. This year, Islington is the proud winner of 15 Green Flag Awards, as well as 5 Community Green Flag Awards, which recognise the incredible contribution of local people who share their time and skills to keep our parks looking so good, and welcoming to our human and animal residents alike!

Barnard Park has seen some exciting changes over recent years, including a new community hub building which is used by local families and community groups, more biodiverse planting, new trees, new pathways and benches, as well as a 3G football and rugby pitch. This transformation, as well as the commitment to biodiversity and nature, has helped secure the latest Green Flag that Islington can add to its list!
