Measles cases are rising in Islington

Measles is a serious illness and can spread easily to others. It can cause hearing loss, pneumonia, blindness, brain swelling and, in rare cases, death.

Around 1 in 5 children who catch measles end up in hospital.

Are you and your family protected?

The best and safest way to protect you and your family is to get vaccinated:

Have you or your child missed a dose? Check their Red Book or ask your GP.

Know the symptoms

  • Starts like a cold, with a fever and red eyes
  • A bumpy rash then appears (pictured)
  • Sometimes there will be small white spots inside the mouth
