Winter Reading Challenge

6 December – 18 January

Your local Islington library

Calling out all Islington children aged 0-16 to join the Winter Reading Challenge. Read three or more Library books from of 6 December until the 18 January. Enter the details in your personal Winter Reading Challenge Passport and get a Champion Reader certificate!

Saturday 6 December, 11am-4pm

Face painting times:
Archway, Central, N4, South, West: 11am–1pm
Cat & Mouse, Finsbury, Lewis Carroll, North: 2pm–4pm

Enjoy crafts, stories, and face painting at your local library. Plus, post your letter to Santa in special library post-boxes from 6–20 December.

No booking needed, just pop into your local library 


Reading Ahead reading challenge

December 2025 – April 2026

Your local Islington library

Pick six reads—books, magazines, recipes, letters, anything! After each, jot down a short review in your Reading Ahead Diary and earn a certificate. This challenge is perfect for young people (16+) and adults looking to rediscover reading, build confidence, or improve literacy skills.
