Youth safety events: November

Group of young people

Ahead of the launch of its new Youth Safety Strategy, Islington Council met with local children and young people to create a programme of exciting activities to help them develop confidence, feel safe and get advice and support this November. All activities are free and include workshops for parents, virtual reality experiences, sports, debating, career building, gaming and more.  


Monday night football

Monday 3, Monday 10, Monday 17 and Monday 24 November  

Barnard Park football pitch, Copenhagen Street, N1 

The Copenhagen Youth Project invite young people aged 16–25 to an hour of skills-based football training followed by friendly matches.  


Empowerment through real-world skills 

Tuesday 4, Tuesday 11, Tuesday 18 and Tuesday 25 November 5-7pm  

Andover Community Centre, 55 Corker Walk, N7  

Gain practical life skills at a Kickback Workshop. Those aged 16-25 can explore money, entrepreneurship, careers and real-life stories.

Sip and paint: safe futures for young women 

Friday 7 November 6-8pm  

Social Pottery, 136-138 Kentish Town Road, NW1 9QB 

As well as expressing their creativity this event will pair young Somali women with mentors for academic or career support.  


Street Doctors first aid 

Wednesday 12 November, 1.20-2.20pm  at New River College 5 Elthorne Rd, N19 4AB 

Thursday 20 November, 1.45-2.55pm  at City of London Academy, Highgate Hill, N19 3EU 

Focusing on how to stem a bleed, the session will support young people to understand the emotional and medical consequences of street violence and how to help themselves and others in a crisis.  


Youth Debate ‘Can patriotism and diversity co-exist?’

Wednesday 12 November, 6-8pm

Listen and learn at an evening of conversation led by young people in partnership with Islington Faith Forum.

Rose Bowl will support young people to create podcasts focused on safety themes relevant to their lives.


Smart Money  

Friday 14 November, 5-4pm 

Unit F1, 89-93 Fonthill Road, First Floor, inside the London Fashion Centre, N4 3JH 

Young people aged 16 to 25 will learn about budgeting, saving, and responsible money management to build financial confidence and long-term stability.

Young dads can to bond with their children and meet other fathers in a friendly, playful setting. 


Exploring safety through virtual reality

Wednesday 19 November 4:30pm-7:30pm

Young people will build confidence, risk awareness, and decision-making skills as they explore personal and community safety in an immersive way.   


Table tennis and safeguarding awareness

A table tennis tournament forms the backdrop of an event that aims to build stronger relationships between youth services and young people, while addressing postcode-related tensions. 


Sip and paint for girls  

Friday 21 November, 6-8pm

A relaxed, creative event where girls can chat and share experiences while painting pottery in a safe space.


Safe and smart online

Soapbox Youth Hub 

A talk and Q&A on cyber bullying, privacy, and scams; hands-on activities around password security and parental controls; and group discussions on safe gaming. 


Come Dine with Change 

Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 November  

Lift Youth Hub, 45 White Lion Street, N1 

Inspired by Come Dine with Me and MasterChef, the event invites young people to take part in a supportive cooking challenge while building confidence, life skills, and peer connections.  


Teen Dating & Relationship Abuse  

Wednesday 26 November, 6-7pm  

In this webinar, parents and carers will learn how to spot the signs of emotional abuse and coercive control in young people’s relationships.
